Seminar on skill development commences at SP College | KNO

A two-day national seminar on skill development commenced here today. The seminar was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, SP College Srinagar, a constituent of Cluster University Srinagar. Around 102 scholars from the State and other parts of the country have registered themselves for participation in the 2-day event. Speaking during the inaugural session, Vice Chancellor Cluster University, Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Javid Ahma, highlighted the aims and objectives of the seminar. Principal SP College, Prof (Dr.) Parveen Pandit highlighted the significance of the seminar and stressed upon the spread of knowledge, skill and real-life experiences so that information is transformed into concrete concepts. She also said that knowledge must be protected from plagiarism and theft and should develop ability in youth to have the patience to listen and speak and manage emotions. Registrar Cluster University Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Yaseen Shah insisted upon exploration of the contributions made by Arab Scientists. CEO Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council, Ranjit Madan expressed his concern that India, representing 15% of the world population has less than 5% of skilled youth. While informing that India is the third country in the world for production and export of biotechnological products like life-saving vaccines and medicines, he stressed upon the needs of more such workshops for bringing awareness about career opportunities in biotechnology on a mass scale.
